Faux Museum

My work below from the Faux Museum. 

This show was a fundraiser for c3 gallery. The show is split up into different groupings and paradys the way a arts institution functions, with it's foyer, eating place, treasured art work rooms and contemporary art rooms. 

I was in the gift shop lol. I also don't appear on the wall sheet... That's life. 

Reused splash

Frustrated, I cleaned my brush of black acrylic paint on the studio floor. Filled afterwards with remorse I attempted to clean it up. Instead I made copy of the floor after rubbing the butchers paper with my hands against the layed paper making a print.

Cafe Art

Sarah CrowEST showed me a trick with using old coffee grounds and PVA glue as a sculptural material. It stiffens really hard and acts like a cement. I've been using it to make a painting and sculpture of a puppy.

Found a lil succulent hiding in one of those disused sign poles that over time become filled with dirt. It was like a lil

plant pot.

Rohan whitely (of Rare Candy) got me a T-shirt from their label! 

And Molly Dyson made me a note book with a nice illustration on the cover! 

I had a really good birthday and I live my friends and family very much.

pathetic parasite

I was reading an article on Cate Blanchett's speech at the Gough Whitlam memorial service last week. As I often do I read the comment section. When things get political a lot of different voices emerge. Some I agree and some I don't. Sometimes a voice is so jaded and aggressive it kind of makes you scared. I copied and pasted the comments of one of the posters that trolled other peoples comments. Their ideas on life and use of language are a bit frightening, I singled out just their text and left it nameless so you could view it as a kind of stream of consciousness. The interesting term 'leftard' and 'pathetic parasite' are used several times. This person refers to free education as a left wing ideology that has 'ordinary' people foot the bill for slackers ect. They have no problem however with frances abbot receiving a scholarship for massive scholarship from a private college.

Ummmmmmmm, "those who have better jobs (because of degrees) earn more" and therefore can afford to pay back their HECS fees. Duh.

Me carrying Drew's shopping bag. We laid on the grass and talked about my internship in new york. He told me he was excited for me but he would miss me. Sometimes after you've been friends with someone for so long you need a refresher to remind your selves whats important.

YouTube comments

I have a YouTube account. Of course these days if have a gmail email account you have one automatically. For years, since 2009, I have been posting videos. Usually of my self doing small performances with objects or music on photo booth. Most of them I blocked so the public can't view them but some I left open. I suppose I considered the videos to be some kind of documentation of  process or maybe it was the gratification of it being such an instantaneous medium, you press upload you edit your title click done and 5 minutes later it's out there.

I didn't expect that any one would see them, still very few have, but for what ever reason the few that found it left some comments under the video that are very derogatory and sexualised. It doesn't necessary offend me, I've had worse threats on YouTube for commenting under other users videos a couple of years back when I thought I could change the world by attacking racism/homophobia online. Maybe there is a smoking fetish and I am just was doing it wrong and pissed people off.

This video was called Smoking (at school) in E S P R I T and was a performance of me smoking a joint in my studio at school.
